I could be embarrassed with how long it has taken me to write a blog post since my last article went up, but honestly, it’s for good reason.
It’s no secret that I’m a working Mama. I recently accepted a very generous promotion, but with a promotion comes more responsibility. Sometimes this means I work a few more hours in the evening after time with the girls, which happens to be when I would typically write my posts. I’ve really taken the mindset that every part of life is a phase––with this said, my blog is still a priority for me. It just has to take a little bit of a backseat from time to time.
I’ve given my excuse for my lack of writing for anyone who cares, so it’s time for the real purpose of my post––that most glorious time of the year.
Yes, I’m as C.D. says “a Basic Bitch.” That is the real term for anyone who doesn’t like my cussing.
I like to (semi)disagree.
I enjoy pumpkins in all forms––pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice, pumpkin candles, pumpkin decor. I like fall arrangements in my vases. I start burning fall-themed candles the second mid-August hits. Yes, I’ve even started playing some Halloween tunes for the kids when we drive home from school.
You see, Fall has always been my (second) favorite season of the year. In reality, I look at the back half of the year as my favorite time of the year.
I’ve always loved that time when you can crack open a window at night just to feel and smell the cool air flowing in. There’s something about the sound the crunch of the leaves would make as I’d walk home from school (or now jog/walk the dog). The smell of fires burning in their chimneys perks up my senses. Picking out just the right pumpkin will always have a special place in my heart. And, of course, the impending excitement of many celebrations could make anyone joyous: birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And now, I get to add my anniversary and the girls’ birthdays to the mix.
So, Fall is really where my spirit perks up and becomes alive. Unlike Spring, I’m reborn in the Fall and Winter.
I recently (re: September 1) put my decor back on display and it gives me such a happy feeling when I walk into the room. Because of my extreme excitement, I cannot wait to share with you a few of my recent Fall finds.
If you haven’t already, and you’re a farmhouse kind of gal like me, you need to visit Kirkland’s, Hobby Lobby or Home Goods for your fall decoration wants.
Berry Sprays: I have these everywhere I can sneak them in.
Toss Pillows: This one is on my birthday wish list. 🙂
Fall Frames: Grabbed this one during my last Kirkland’s run.
Wooden Decor: Another Kirkland’s grab, this was perfect for our mantel (see above).
Mantel Streamers: This garland is SO cute! It’s sold out online, but you can find it at your local shop.
Outdoor: With the addition of a few potted mums and hardy pumpkins, this little sign is a great way to greet guests.
Shelf Accessories: We have cute little shelf-sitters like this guy from Pier 1, but you can get them for much cheaper at Hobby Lobby!
Pumpkin Decor: I love the modern touch on this pumpkin, especially the white and gold.
Baby Accessories: I mean… come on…
Outdoor: I love the idea of putting fall mums in a farming truck planter.
