Every year I have the same conversation over… and over… and over with my husband (and Dad… and brother-in-laws… and father-in-law…):
“Christmas is nearing. Is there anything you’ve had your eye on this year?”
“Really? Not a single thing?”
“No. I’m good.”
“Seriously, just one idea?”
“Let me think on it.” (Also known as, “I’ll never think on it and will never share one idea with you.”)
Oh, what fun! Come Christmas morning, it’s always a delight to watch C.D. and the other men in my life open their presents, surprisingly like one or two things, fake smiles on the rest and then promptly return the remaining items. C.D. has become the “gift card” guy, but the poor man can never actually get to the mall to shop between work and home life.
If you find yourself in the same boat as me (and millions of other women), here is a list of great holiday gift ideas for your gentlemen that C.D. actually HAS liked in the past several years.
Ho, ho, ho and good luck in your holiday shopping endeavors!
Adidas Golf Men’s “Climalite Three Stripes Pants“
C.D. is an avid weekend golfer, but he hated wearing his khakis out to the course. He now owns a pair of these and they are PERFECT for a round of golf in cooler weather. The material feels more athletic; however, the cut and fit are nice enough to wear with a sweater to work.
While the range of shoe styles for men has greatly widened over the past few decades, every man likes a good pair of casual sneakers they can wear out. The timeless New Balance 501s come in a vast range of colors, for men and women, and are extremely comfortable.
C.D. discovered this brand a few years ago and daaaaaang I’m glad he did. These shirts look amazing on him–from the cut to the patterns. While a tad pricey, they often have sales and are worth the splurge for any guy who enjoys a nice “untucked” look.
GADGETS and ENTERTAINMENT
C.D. and his law firm partner purchased this as a giveaway for their annual triathlon and it was a hit! This GPS tracker enables golfers to have a leg up on their competition at over 30,000 courses pre-loaded. The watch comes with a “Swing Power Analysis” to allow your man (or lady!) to track their swings and receive recommendations on a club based on their results.
*This is currently ON SALE for $250 at Dick’s Sporting Goods!
A gift for C.D. last Christmas, our Echo is used frequently throughout the day. C.D. starts each day with a round of Jeopardy. With a bouncy toddler, we’re often jamming to music throughout the day. Pair it with a smart home device, such as the WeMo plug or ecobee smart thermostat, to control your environment from anywhere in the house.
Bonus, these come in some sweet new designs and textures to better fit your home decor style!
If you HAVE to be football widowed and find yourself watching football just to spend some quality time with your guy on Sundays, gift your man (or yourself, but next season, of course) with the NFL RedZone package. How can you gift it for Christmas? Throw in a certificate for the price of the season (check with your local providers for pricing)!
This channel shows all games on television at once, but only when plays are in the “red zone” of the field. It makes for more exciting football-watching and host Scott Hanson typically throws in some fun color commentary throughout the day. 😉
I don’t know what it is, but our washer and dryer hate C.D.’s boxers. They often come out ripped to shreds. His J. Crew boxers actually hold up well, have a nice sturdy, but stretchy elastic to the waist and come in some fun prints. And, unsurprisingly, guys never seem to remember (or want) to buy new boxers. This stocking stuffer is practical and necessary.
Chapstick (no description necessary!)
Winter months and furnaces dry out lips in a heartbeat. And, most ANYONE will tell you that their Chapstick often runs off when needed most. Pick up some extra packs to shove in his stocking and hide them where he’ll use them the most (think car, nightstand, work bag…).
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
C.D. is a whiskey guy, so you’ll often find our decanter stocked and ready at our home. One of his favorites that is of great taste for the price is Woodford Reserve. You can find it at your local grocer or liquor store in a variety of sizes (200mL shown for $18.99 at Saint Louis’ Friar Tucks liquor store*).
*Must be 21 or older to purchase and enjoy. Be smart, kids!*
