Every year at this time I drive my husband insane. I’ve already admitted that I tend to find periods of time to play my Christmas Classics throughout the year, but come November 1 it’s a regular occurrence.
I consider myself a planner–that’s also no secret. So with my birthday in October, I’ve had my eye on a few fantastic gift ideas, perfect for all ladies, for quite some time. I often update my ideas list–adding and deleting based on prices, styles and textures. To help those who may not be as much of a planner as I am, or for anyone just needing some inspiration to kick off their own holiday list, check out my must-haves below.
NAILS and SKIN
OPI Infinite Shine 2, “You Don’t Know Jacques!”
I can rarely keep nail polish on for longer than a day, so I tend to stick with neutrals that are easily touched up. This shade from OPI has a nice fall/wintry blend of deep purple, beige and gray (greige).
Urban Decay, “Naked Heat” Eye Shadow Palette
I tried out the Urban Decay “Naked” products a few years ago and was hooked. I started with the “Naked Basics” palette and wore it daily to work. I stumbled upon their “Smoky” palette last year and would use it to turn a work-day look to an evening-out look with the simple swipe of a darker shade.
This new palette from Urban Decay brings the heat with smoky red hues. With blue eyes, I’m often seeking colors that will contrast the blue/green in my eyes. I often wear browns, so this palette seems like a no-brainer for adding a nice contrast with a twist.
Urban Decay, “Naked Shapeshifter” Contour Palette
Another Urban Decay palette, I received this gift for my birthday and it’s been an instant win. The textures are soft, easily built upon if necessary and actually stay on. My skin is combination skin, so I need something that will cover shine in the wrong areas while still adding highlights in areas that tend to fall short.
The one side of this palette is soft compressed powder, perfect for daytime looks. The other side is soft cremes, which can easily be layered on top of the powders for a pretty shine for special outings.
My Mom is an avid Origins user and I’ve always enjoyed their various skin care products and scents. So when I noticed this lip crayon in her makeup organizer, I had to test it out. It… is… worth it!
The crayon is soft and smooth, with a slight sheen to it and subtle color. It’s the perfect lip color for a day where you want to wear minimal makeup and toss on a hat.
As a sample with purchase for my KissZing crayon, I received the Rose Clay mask shown above. I gave it a whirl one night while Evan was in the bath and quickly added the full-size tube to my Christmas ideas.
The mask goes on wet, with a slightly thick consistency and Jojobe beads to exfoliate. You rub on the mask, let it sit for ten minutes and rinse. My skin is left soft, glowing and even– something I need after experiencing melasma from pregnancy.
CLOTHING, SHOES and ACCESSORIES
b.o.c.’s, “Karel” Combat Boots
If they aren’t slip-ons, I’m living in boots. Most of my boots have a bit of a heel to them, making them less practical for every day running around. These combat boots are warm and basic–great for wearing with leggings or skinny jeans.
Franco Sarto’s, “Brandy” Booties
After seeing a similar pair of these booties on a colleague of mine, I had to have them. These menswear-inspired booties are a classic way to dress up a pair of dark jeans or paired with a black faux leather jacket and a knee-length dress.
*SALE ALERT: These are on sale TODAY ONLY at Macy’s for $76.76; available in a variety of colors.*
Sperry’s, “Seaside Perforated Slip-On Sneaker”
I had asked for a new pair of slip-ons after my beloved Michael Kors pair had torn at the toe from overuse. My Mom and sister surprised me for my birthday with not one, but TWO pairs of these bad boys in red and gray. These are super soft, uber comfortable and come in fun colors for pairing with any outfit. You want these.
*SALE ALERT: These are on sale TODAY ONLY at Macy’s for $50.99; available in a variety of colors.*
I don’t get out much these days. When we do, it’s work or dinner and a drink (or two). I like simple things I can layer, so I’m pining over the ruffle detail on this simple, soft tee.
Express’, “Solid Ruched Sleeve Zip-Front Shirt”
C.D. recently remarked that I only dress “warm and cozy” these days. Guilty. I love a good chunky sweater or cardigan. I’m always freezing so it’s not only practical but also on-trend.
Well, regardless, I suppose he’s right in that I can dress it up from time to time. And, if I’m going to throw on something a bit sleeker, I really like this zip-up detail and bright red color on this shirt from Express. Add some flare with a black leather jacket and pair with the Franco Sorto booties shared above and you’ve got yourself a date night look!
Rosefield’s, “Tribeca” Gray and Rose Gold Watch (33mm)
I’ve gotten away from wearing watches and it’s time to throw some arm candy back in the mix. I love the Rosefield watches for their simplicity and range of band and color options. Seriously, check out this range–there’s something for everyone!
As I said, I love adding and deleting from my final “wish list” as sales pop up and more items are added to the mix. What are you pining after this year? I hope you’ve been good!
