Whoever said DIY would be easy was obviously joking or being very, very sarcastic.
But oh… my… word! The pride that comes with something hand made after spending hours working through it is worth every cramp and muscle knot. And what’s better? Being able to offer your family and friends something custom for their very own homes!
My husband and I agreed last week that I would sell my Cricut. Yes, I LOVED the custom onesies, tees and knick-knacks I made for friends and family over the past year, but, unfortunately, that particular market is incredibly competitive right now. In an effort to recoup most of the cost of the Cricut while the market is hot, I sold my machine to a dear friend. I can’t wait to see what she creates with it!
So with the Cricut gone, what was this arts and crafts hobbier (I think I made up a word…) going to do?!
I had stacks of wood at home from wooden sign projects I had intended to make. I did some research on new ways to use the wood and fell in love with plans for Wooden Planter Address Signs. C.D. also really liked the idea, so I enlisted the help of my expert handyman father and we spent the lion-share of our Sunday working outside in the sunshine.
Check out the photos below of our day. At the start of the day, I was the go-to wood sander because that’s all I felt confident to do. By the end of the day, I was cutting my own wood, sanding it, using the Kreg Jig to drill in and attach the planter boxes and using the nail gun like a pro. I felt invigorated!
And the best part? While we made our sign for the front of the house, working together with my Dad allowed us to make FIVE additional Wooden Planter Address Sign AND Mason Jar Wall Decor Plaques.
